The New American Café in the atrium of the Museum of Fine Arts has a new menu as of Wednesday. And what a menu it is. We had the Japanese Eggplant (lightly prepared with a nicely spiced black bean purée) and Farmer’s Vegetable Tart (a light vegetable-filled quiche). For dessert, we had Maple Crème Caramel and Pumpkin Cheesecake. Both were good with nice fall flavors. I can’t comment on the other items on the menu. However, all of the food I saw on other tables looked fresh and well made. The pizza looked especially appetizing as did the chips. The chips are made in house. Don’t be discouraged by a line to enter. It moves quickly.

We had a fantastic meal here on Friday night. Presentation was worthy of being in a museum and the flavors were spectacular. Skin-on salmon crisped to perfection while leaving the meat tender, creative greens and sauces; the mussels are a must, with a bright rich curry sauce. Sitting in the center of the museums with soaring ceilings and the Chihuly tower reaching high above us was beautiful!
